TO SURVIVE FROM TSUNAMI
“A Strategy of TV-Internet System in a Fishing Village”
In October 2013, in the small fishing village of Abu, nestled in between the mountains and the sea, a special test of a new tsunami warning system occurred. It was a warning to evacuate using TV as well as confirming people’s safety after they evacuated. Called the “Jointown Tokushima Project” and with the cooperation of TV Shikoku and NTV, among others, it was the first real-world test of the system. During TV broadcasts, a war ning was displayed on people’s TVs with their own personal information. So what kind of new TV system is this? And how can it affect tsunami counter measures in the future? We bring you this program showing you how local areas should be prepared.
